USCIS Agents to Conduct Arrests; Gaza Ceasefire Talks Collapse; Africa Deals With Population Crisis

September 5, 2025

Good Morning,

The US immigration agency USCIS moves to arm its agents with arrest powers while American tariffs drive India closer to Russia and China. Gaza's death toll surpasses 64,000 as ceasefire talks collapse, while geopolitical alliances shift dramatically with North Korea's Kim Jong Un strengthening ties to Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, 26 nations commit to post-war troop deployments in Ukraine, the US and Panama propose a 5,550-strong force for Haiti's gang crisis, and Africa confronts a looming demographic challenge as its population rapidly ages.
