US Reevaluates Arms Exports; Israel Agrees to Gaza Ceasefire; Haiti Gangs Take Control of Capital

July 3, 2025

Good Morning,

The Pentagon announced that it will review its weapons distribution policies amid ongoing international crises. The Trump administration has paused some weapons shipments to Ukraine, including air defense missiles, as part of a broader review of military aid to foreign countries, while diplomatic efforts to resolve the Israel-Hamas conflict continue with mixed results. Israel has accepted a new U.S. ceasefire proposal that would involve exchanging Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, though Hamas has pushed back on the latest proposal. Meanwhile, humanitarian crises unfold across multiple regions: a deadly African Union helicopter crash in Somalia has claimed at least three lives, a maritime disaster near Bali has left 61 people missing after a boat sank, and Haiti faces escalating violence as gangs maintain near-total control of the capital according to UN reports.
