US Deploys Warships Near Venezuela; China Rebuilds India Ties; Trump Clarifies Ukraine Peacekeeping Terms

August 20, 2025

Good Morning,

Washington is deploying warships to combat regional drug threats while Caracas responds by mobilizing 4.5 million militia members against what President Maduro calls "outlandish" American threats. Meanwhile, diplomatic shifts are reshaping international relations: India and China work to rebuild ties through high-level talks, Trump rules out US peacekeeping troops for Ukraine, and a powerful Libyan official reportedly explores controversial plans to resettle Palestinians from Gaza in discussions with Israel. Additionally, Mali continues its fight against corruption with embezzlement charges against former Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maïga.
