US, African Union Push Toward Congo-Rwanda Peace; US Agreements With KR, JP, EU at Risk in Court; Israel Issues Gaza City Ultimatum

September 4, 2025

Good Morning,

President Trump has petitioned the Supreme Court to uphold his proposed sweeping tariffs while threatening to unwind existing trade agreements with key allies Korea, Japan, and the EU if challenged in court. International security concerns mount as the FBI warns of an extensive Chinese hacking campaign targeting Americans, while diplomatic efforts continue with US and African Union representatives meeting on the Congo-Rwanda peace framework. In the Middle East, Israel has issued an ultimatum to Hamas regarding Gaza City as negotiations remain active, and Estonia signals readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine despite defense concerns. Meanwhile, corruption continues to plague Latin American leadership as Peru's former President Toledo receives his second conviction.
