Trump Says Tariff Deals Not Needed; Hong Kong Democracy Takes a Blow; Israel-Iran Ceasefire Tested

June 30, 2025

Good Morning,

The U.S. prepares to issue tariff letters in the coming days while President Trump dismisses the need for trade deals, and Iran expresses doubt about potential ceasefire negotiations with Israel. Meanwhile, tragic news emerges from Tanzania where at least 38 people died in a bus collision and fire, while political upheaval continues in Hong Kong as the territory's last active pro-democracy group announces its dissolution. In Europe, Spanish protesters are calling for their regional government to resign months after the deadly Valencia floods, and in South America, Guyana moves to combat Venezuelan gold smuggling at the urging of the U.S. government.
