Israel and Iran Approach the Brink; EU and UK Agree on Gibraltar; US and China Extend Trade War Truce

June 12, 2025

Good Morning,

Israel reportedly prepares potential strikes against Iran while the US repositions personnel across the Middle East amid rising regional hostilities. The humanitarian crisis in Haiti reached new depths with gang violence displacing a record 1.3 million people, according to UN findings. In diplomatic developments, the EU and UK achieved a breakthrough political agreement on Gibraltar's status, while the US and China reached a framework deal to extend their trade war truce. Meanwhile, Japan announced plans to strengthen surveillance around contested islands with mobile radar deployments, and thousands of activists launched a large-scale convoy from Tunisia toward Gaza in an attempt to establish a humanitarian corridor to Rafah.
