Germany Announces Gaza Aid Airlift; Thailand, Cambodia Reach Ceasefire; Haitian Soldiers Train in Brazil

July 29, 2025

Good Morning,

The United States and European Union finalized what President Trump called "the largest trade deal in history," with Europe committing $600 billion in U.S. investments and $750 billion in energy purchases, though analysts suggest the EU may have conceded more ground. Meanwhile, Thailand and Cambodia agreed to "halt five days of fighting along their disputed border that's killed at least 36 people," following pressure from both Trump's tariff threats and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's diplomatic mediation. The ceasefire comes as regional conflicts continue to reshape global politics, with Sudan's paramilitary RSF forming a parallel government, Germany planning Gaza aid airlifts, Palestinian leadership calling for Hamas to surrender control, and Haiti deploying 400 police officers to Brazil for training as gang violence escalates domestically.
