Big Beautiful Bill Moves Forward; Israel Increases Regional Diplomacy; Europe Heat Wave Breaks Records

July 1, 2025

Good Morning,

The U.S. Senate has advanced Trump's legislative package despite uncertain prospects, while Colombia faces internal turmoil with secret recordings and an alleged plot against President Petro that has unified politicians across party lines. Violence continues to grip West Africa with at least seven killed in anti-government protests in Togo, as diplomatic efforts intensify in the Middle East with Israel pursuing regional partnerships following recent tensions with Iran. Meanwhile, economic relations show signs of thaw as China prepares to lift its ban on some Japanese seafood imports after the Fukushima restrictions, even as Europe grapples with a dangerous heat wave triggering widespread health alerts and record-breaking temperatures across the continent.
