ABA Sues Trump Administration; US Still Wants Iran Deal; Mexican Mayor Assassinated

June 17, 2025

Good Morning,

The Trump administration faces legal challenges as the American Bar Association sued over executive orders targeting law firms, while global crises intensify with Chad confronting both a spreading cholera outbreak and food shortages according to UN reports. Pentagon officials say Trump continues pursuing Iran diplomacy, Russia-U.S. talks on reducing tensions were cancelled, developing nations struggle with crushing Chinese infrastructure debt, and gunmen killed a Mexican mayor in a village hall attack.

“Since taking office earlier this year, President Trump has used the vast powers of the Executive Branch to coerce lawyers and law firms to abandon clients, causes, and policy positions the President does not like,” the ABA wrote in its Monday lawsuit. Photo - Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images
